Jammu, Oct 03 (KNO): Amid the frequent terror incidents in hills of Kathua-Udhampur districts, General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Yol based Rising Star Corps, commonly known as 9 Corp, conducted a comprehensive assessment of the operational preparedness of units deployed in the strategic Bani and Billiwar sectors of Kathua district.
As per spokesperson, the review was part of the ongoing efforts to ensure high levels of readiness and vigilance in the hinterland of Jammu, which became active after around two decades, with an increase in terror incidents in Kathua, Udhampur and Doda borders.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), during the assessment GOC interacted with the troops and reviewed their operational capabilities, including logistical support, surveillance measures, and defensive positions.
He commended the dedication and professionalism exhibited by all ranks in executing their operations, acknowledging their role in maintaining peace and stability in the region despite challenging terrain and weather conditions.
Addressing the troops, the GOC emphasized the importance of continued alertness and adaptability to evolving security threats.
The Rising Star Corps is responsible for security of strategic Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts and recently played a very critical role in neutralizing a terrorist on September 29. In the same operation a police head Constable was also killed.
